Adam Christian Mathews, 34, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born on April 4, 1979 in Jacksonville to Kathy Hearne and Steve Mathews.  Adam graduated from Mandarin High School and received both a Bachelor of Accounting and a Bachelor of Finance from the University of North Florida.  He was employed by the City of Jacksonville as the Chief of IT Security and was a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. Adam Christian Mathews, 34, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014. He was born on April 4, 1979 in Jacksonville to Kathy Hearne and Steve Mathews.  Adam graduated from Mandarin High School and received both a Bachelor of Accounting and a Bachelor of Finance from the University of North Florida.  He was employed by the City of Jacksonville as the Chief of IT Security and was a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert. Adam received both the Certified Public Accountant and Certified Information System Auditor designations. He also served many years as a board member for the Duval Federal Credit Union.



Adam was a cheerful and outgoing person who had a passion for computer technology, home improvements and home automation.  He loved traveling with friends and enjoyed experiencing national and international cuisines.



Adam is predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Jim Hudson, and his paternal grandfather, Ben Mathews.



Adam is survived by his wife, Lisa Mathews; brother, Drew Mathews (Carlyne), parents, Kathy Hearne and Steve Mathews and grandmothers, Helen Mathews and Virginia Hudson.



Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, March 20 in Christ's Church.  Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, March 21 in Christ's Church, 6045 Greenland Rd.  In celebration of Adam's life, flip flops and Hawaiian shirt attire is welcomed.



In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jacksonville Humane Society or Jimmy Buffett’s Singing for a Change Foundation.
