Betty (Franklin) Lemmon, age 74, passed away on June 10, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida after her battle with cancer. She was born in 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to Lawrence and Marjorie Franklin.



She was retired from the U.S. Government after a total of 25 years with General Services Administration (GSA), Atlanta, Georgia as a Supervisory Realty Specialist & Contracting Officer; 5 years with Naval Training Device Center, Orlando, Florida, 2 years with Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA. Betty (Franklin) Lemmon, age 74, passed away on June 10, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida after her battle with cancer. She was born in 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to Lawrence and Marjorie Franklin.



She was retired from the U.S. Government after a total of 25 years with General Services Administration (GSA), Atlanta, Georgia as a Supervisory Realty Specialist & Contracting Officer; 5 years with Naval Training Device Center, Orlando, Florida, 2 years with Tobyhanna Army Depot, Tobyhanna, PA. After she retired form GSA, she continued to work as a U.S. Government Contractor for 12 years as a Senior Realty Specialist. Prior to her U.S. Government career, she was employed by Southern Bell Telephone Co., Orlando, Florida.



Throughout most of her adult life, her greatest passions were her constant love of both business and personal travel to 46 of the 50 U.S. States, Puerto Rico, and Virgin Islands, most of the Canadian Provinces and some Caribbean Islands over the past 50 years. Betty’s other passion were serving as the Family Historian doing genealogy research for the past 45 years on her family and assisting others in perusing their genealogy research and her love for photography.



She lived in Birmingham, Al as a child before moving to Orlando, Florida where she lived before moving to Tobyhanna, PA, then returning to Orlando, Florida before moving to Atlanta, Georgia where she lived for 30 years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 2001.



She is survived by her husband, John (Jack) Silliman, of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Brenda (Henry) Booth, of Altamonte Springs, FL; brother, Steven (Debbie) Franklin of Longwood, Florida; two nephews, Clint Franklin of Gibsonville, North Carolina and Nick Franklin of Longwood, Florida.



She is predeceased by her parents, Lawrence and Marjorie Franklin, who both died in 2012 in Orlando, Florida.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, June 15 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 16 in Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home of Mandarin, followed by interment in Oaklawn Cemetery, 4801 San Jose Blvd. Jacksonville, FL 32207.
