Robert “Bob” William Morrow passed away on September 12, 2017 in Jacksonville, FL. Bob was born in Philadelphia, PA on February 22, 1920 to William Henry and Nellie Bonner (Mooney) Morrow. He had one older brother who died in infancy and a younger sister, Ruth (Sam) Kelly who predeceased him. Ruth was frequently heard to complain/brag that Bob never had to study but got all A’s. This was a pattern that continued all his life, including his time in flight school and with correspondence courses while in the United States Air Force. He married Olive “Louise” Kemp in May 1942, just before he started basic training. They were married 54 years before she passed away. While married they blended their complimentary talents. He delighted in building HO scale trains and platform layouts and she applied her artistic talents to painting the trains, figures and scenery. She gardened and created floral arrangements, and he photographed them. Together the saw the world as Bob pursued his love of flying in the United States Air Force. He was a pilot of most of his 27-year career, retiring with the rank of Colonel. He immediately went to work for Sears in the company’s service department. He often claimed he was paid in retirement to do what he done all his life for fun, repairing electronic stuff! He thought that was a great deal. He is survived by his son, Robert “Steve” (Barb) Morrow of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Carole (Paul) Craska of St. Louis, MO; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom remember him for his quiet good nature. Bob rarely complained, listened intently, smiled easily and offered advice sparingly. But when he felt something was wrong he dug his heels in to get it corrected and not let it be overlooked or pushed under a rug. Bob requested that he be cremated and no memorial service to be held.
